Fiesta Texas - Holiday in the Park Info (for Symphonic Band)

Click here to Plan your visit!

The day we’ve been waiting for is almost here! FIESTA TEXAS 2014!!!!! Here’s the plan:

Friday, December 5 – Load instruments in the trailer starting at 2:30pm. (Make sure your name and “FBA” is clearly labeled on your case.) Taylor, Douglass, Sarah, Joshua, Frank, and John will help with loading. Bryton, Caleb, Callie, and Kyle will store away music stands in closet by the stairs. Ellie, Janie, and Dixie will collect all music and carry to the trailer. Make sure your name is on all pieces of music and visible on your binder, and place in storage container. All others will help by putting chairs into 4 stacks and cleaning the room.

Saturday, December 6 – Wear nice blue jeans and 2014-15 gray Band T-shirt. Wear comfortable, lace-up shoes. You may wear/bring FBA hoodies, but they will not be worn during the performance. Band students will wear red & white spirit sleeves for the performance. You may also wear Santa hats, etc. Bring money for dinner and souvenirs. Wear a watch to keep track of the time.
3:00pm – Meet by the school office/sanctuary entrance.
3:15pm - Load bus and depart FBA. Mrs. Conard will distribute spirit sleeves and tickets on the bus.
4:00pm - Arrive at Fiesta TX. Frank, John, and Douglass will quickly unload the trailer. Students take instruments in cases through security. (This may take some time.) Parent chaperones will take music container and help with various percussion items.
4:30-4:45pm – Be in place at Sundance Theater  in Crackaxle Canyon for set-up and warm-up.
5:10-5:40pm – Showtime!
5:40-6:00pm – We will take a few pictures on stage. Put music back in storage container, pack instruments back in cases, and exit the park back to the bus/trailer. You must get your hand stamped when exiting the park. Load your own instrument into the trailer and return your spirit sleeves to Mrs. Conard. Take everything you need (like money) from the bus, as we will not be coming back to the bus until 10:00pm. If leaving before 10:00pm, you must take your belongings into the park and rent a locker.
6:00-9:45pm – Stay in groups of 3 or more. Enjoy the park! Free ice skating, shows, Iron Rattler, Boomerang, Goliath, Scream, etc. (Poltergeist and Superman will be closed.) Anyone found wandering without a group will receive after-school detention and will have to stay with Mrs. Conard or a chaperone until a group is found.
Between 8:00-8:30pm – Quick check-in with chaperones by the park entrance then go back to enjoying the park. Anyone that does not check-in during this time period will receive an FD mark.
9:45pm – Meet at park entrance. Load bus and depart for FBA. Any students not riding the bus back to FBA must sign-out/text Mrs. Conard. If any students are planning to leave before 9:45pm, Mrs. Conard must be notified IN ADVANCE by a parent because this affects the groups.
10:45pm – Arrive at FBA. Take instruments home, and go to bed!

Instructions from the Navarro Band Director:

·         Once you have arrived, please proceed through the courtyard (between the Events Center and the New Gym) to the Cafeteria (glass windows and glass doors). This will be the student gathering/warm-up area. Students are to REMAIN in this area unless they are in the audition room. (If the weather permits, they may sit right outside the cafeteria on the patio.) Our Band Boosters will have concessions available inside of the cafeteria. PLEASE REMIND YOUR STUDENTS TO STAY OFF OF THEIR INSTRUMENTS ONCE THEY HAVE AUDITIONED. The cafeteria is not a separate building; it is “open”. We are a little concerned that some noise might bleed through to the audition rooms. If they stay off of their instruments, this will help tremendously.

·         There will be signs posted with room numbers for audition and holding rooms. (See below.) Students will SIGN-IN for the contest at their respective holding rooms, with the exception of the trumpets. Trumpets will sign-in at a table in the Cafeteria. We will have at least one Parent/director assigned to each audition room and holding room.

HS Region Band Forms due!

Region Band forms are due!
11/13 for a grade of 100
11/14 for a grade of 90.
11/17 for a grade of 80.
11/18-11/21 for a grade of 70.
No forms will be accepted after 11/21.
Those who are planning to audition and return the form 11/18-11/21 will be charged an $8 late fee by the region.

Region band is a HUGE honor, and FBA has amazingly talented band students. We need to send the top musicians to accurately represent each school's band programs and our region. Remember - YOU have a chance to advance to Area and then on to STATE!

If you still haven't decided, you DO have this weekend to practice the music and PRAY about it.
A final decision does not have to be made until next Friday. A lot can be accomplished in a few weeks on the music. God will make a way where there seems to be no way. Making all-region band is not what equates to success, though. Maintaining a positive attitude and putting forth a worthy effort far outweigh talent. Do not be discouraged with past audition results, and do not let the enemy attack your spirit and motivation.

Students, if you are unsure and would like to talk, please come talk to me.

Remember:  Instructional Videos (click here) are online. They will help you! Please watch them!

I am available the Week of November 17th and also the 23rd-25th of November. Please schedule a 1-hour lesson with me to work on the music.

Love you all,
Mrs. C
